This article talks about the Google company culture and how they are different then most. The article is an interview with Stacy Sullivan, the Chief Culture Officer at Google. The interview discusses how she tries to keep Google’s culture and keep the employees happy. Stacy discusses how Google tries to keep the core values even when the company is constantly growing. Values like “a flat organization, a lack of hierarchy, a collaborative environment” are the things that Google wants to hold on to and contain in new offices. Stacy describes the culture at Google as strong on teamwork and collaboration and to think in non-traditional ways. Google is very concerned about the employee’s happiness and company commitment, so much that they have a happiness survey. The interview goes on to discuss how Google tries to keep up with and retain its employees even after their options fully vest after four years. Around this four year period they will check in with the employee to see what they are working on, if they like there work and if not what Google can do to make their work life better. Google also plans company ski trips every year that help with team building and bonding. Google tries to maintain and good work/life balance by not holding early morning or late evening meetings, having a paternity leave policy and paying for meals the first few weeks employees have a baby.

I think that Google has established a very good, strong company culture and it has certainly contributed to the company’s success. Google wants to keep its employees happy and satisfied and has a culture that does just that. By reading this article and researching from the Google company site, I myself would like to work in an environment that this.
